AKT lends a hand to Help Mend a Heart

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

AKT Enterprises, the world’s premier branding and merchandising resource, is donating hundreds of T-shirts to Help Mend a Heart, the charity established for Maureen Waters, mother of New Found Glory’s lead singer Jordan Pundik. Maureen was diagnosed with congestive heart failure in November 2009.

Maureen’s children have turned to social media for support and encouragement as they seek to help their mother overcome her illness.. They have established a website, Facebook account, and Twitter account to spread information about and draw awareness to the cause. Help Mend a Heart has already raised almost $60,000 in just over 2 months, but much more is needed to fund a heart transplant for Maureen.

The T-shirts, produced in-house by AKT at one of their Orlando-based facilities, will be distributed at a concert in South Florida later this month.

Mitchell Davis guest stars in new Mychildren Mybride video for “On Wings of Integrity”

In June 2008, YouTube sensation Mitchell Davis (or livelavalive) posted a parody video about Usher’s fragrance, wondering how his life would change if he wore a cologne released by a popular R&B singer. He went on to speculate about what it would be like to wear a fragrance released by the hardcore band Mychildren Mybride. The video, which has over 3.1 million views to date, was a huge hit among livelavalive’s viewers and MCMB fans. Its success eventually led to the production of Mychildren Mybride’s new music video, which features Mitchell living a day in the life of MCMB while wearing the band’s fictional fragrance. The video for “On Wings of Integrity” premiered exclusively on Mitchell’s channel this week.

A sellout crowd braved blizzard-like conditions December 19th for a chance to hang out with YouTube sensation Mitchell Davis and his sidekick, Kyle Sibert, as the duo performed their Off Screen and In the Flesh show at the famed School of Rock in Hackensack, NJ. The event was the first onstage production by a YouTube personality of its kind—a blurring of the lines between social networking and live entertainment that promises to change the way we view social media.

Davis, or livelavalive, as he’s known on YouTube, brought his singularly offbeat online presence to the School of Rock stage, where he presented live versions of his most well-known YouTube skits along with new material and a Q&A session. Davis and Sibert also welcomed a special guest: fellow YouTuber Meekakitty, who delighted the audience with her own brand of antics, including a surprise Silly String attack on Davis.

The success of this flagship event has helped push the livelavalive phenomenon to new heights. In addition to keeping his fans supplied with weekly YouTube videos, Davis has been busy planning a nation-wide tour. His YouTube channel is currently ranked number thirty-two on the site’s Most Subscribed (All-Time) list, and his videos have been viewed a combined total of over 66 million times.
